Among many unique art performances during @bersemiecofestival in April 4th, there was one captivating performance by @flyingballoons.puppet at the garden of @domahyogya Seated on the green grass, sheltered under the cloudy sky, and filled with soothing nature's sound. High hope that there will be more @bersemiecofestival every year in the future 🫒

Bantul, sebenarnya punya potensi tak terbatas namun sering di-abai mata.

Finding home in the most unexpected place is the new definition of grounded luxury. Soaking up in the morning sun, barefoot walking, smelling newly fresh-cut grass, and greeting your newly-found family here. All in a hidden sanctuary that @domahyogya is.

Selamat merayakan natal..

"Here on this earth, we all pee the same color." This morning, an old man who turned out was a shoe repairman was spotted riding his old bicycle through the village street. Our gardener from the village, Abu, was spotted repairing his shoes and interacting with the old man. Both sat on the ground, and warm conversation shared. This kind of human touch can only be found with a service from the heart at @domahyogya

We can't separate Bantul, Yogyakarta and culture, because the people live daily with it. This magnificent magical annual event is a traditional cleansing ceremony we call Ruwatan in the month of Suro (the most Sacred month in Javanese almanac system). The ceremony begins with cleansing ritual, cleaning them from both visible and invisible impurities and badlucks using holy waters, prayers, gamelan chants, and cutting off some piece of hair. The ceremony ends with a grand wayang kulit (shadow puppet) performance until after midnight. This reminds us that in Java, each thing we do has symbolizing meaning that carried and passed down for centuries. Even before the Himalayan singing bowl was popular, we already had the Ruwatan gamelan to heal. A gamelan healing procession. Held in Pandak, Bantul, 26 July 2025. You might want to clear up your schedule next year if you're planning on joining the ceremony.
